In his You Tube video, “Five Things That Keep You from Big Buds” BrownDirtWarrior explains how overwatering and overfertilizing can wreak havoc in your cannabis garden.
BrownDirtWarrior has an effective philosophy when it comes to growing cannabis which we as organic growers support: as much as possible, mimic Mother Nature. This advice is especially true when it comes to water and nutrients—in the natural world, cannabis grows in relatively dry, low fertility environments. When you overwater and add too much nutrient, you create conditions that favor pathogens that will attack your plants, like powdery mildew, fungus gnats, root rot and burning.
Instead, consider watering and feeding short of saturation and runoff, trim the leaves from the lower extremities of your plants to promote airflow, and inoculate the root zone with beneficial bacteria.
